Love, Relationships, and Experience

I write this primarily for a friend in order to share my experiences and beliefs, hoping to ease some of the stress on her mind.

Finding the special someone in your life is a journey. For some, the journey is very simple and they find the perfect one for them right off the bat. For others, there is a little bit of leg work to be done, but their persistence pays off.

As a person floats on through life, they may find various people they loved or had a strong attraction to. For some, it may develop into a relationship. For others, those relationships do not work out. It is important to see these experiences not as failures, but as lessons in a person’s own tolerance.

Each passing relationship is something to learn from, not to mourn over. The relationship was never meant to last, but it was meant to teach you something about yourself. In essence, it is training for when you find your perfect match.

Someone out there is doing the same thing, and looking for you. Do not limit yourself to the world immediately around you. Do not forget that of the 6.8 billion+ people on Earth, there will be at least one perfect person in search of you too.

Do not give up, and do not choose the easy path. Doing so cheats yourself, and the perfect person searching for you, out of any true happiness you would have had. Remember that when ever you feel lonely or depressed, they do too.

Change of Pace

I just had one of those life epiphanies you get as you grow up and learn more about yourself.

For years I have always programmed for myself, my clients, and my job. When I was younger this wasn’t a problem since my energy levels grew unchecked. Now that I’m older, things are not as simple anymore. Just last week I learned that if I work on personal software projects during my work breaks or when I get home, I become less efficient at it. It’s like running all day every day, and using your breaks to run some more.

To say the least, this really sucks! I love programming, the deep thought and focus that goes with it, and the sense of accomplishment I derive from completing projects. I won’t be stopping anytime soon, but I will be slowing down considerably. I’ll be programming on weekends, if I have time, instead of during the work week. I guess I’ll do more creative things like write music.

It feels like I just wrote that I’ll only play games on weekends.

Back to Tumblr

As I have been reminded, time and time again, the only way you’ll learn something is if you get hurt.

Well, I’m not actually hurt, but I am very annoyed.  Posterous hasn’t made much progress on the customization front, which I was hoping would catch up to what Tumblr has to offer.  Tumblr on the other had has made vast improvements on its user interface.  Specifically, their blog customization tool.  I only stumbled on this by accident, when I was helping my father setup a new blog.

I would have imported all my original posts from Posterous, but Tumblr does not offer such a tool and I don’t have the time to manually enter them in.  So forgive me for the bunch of broken links to this site!
