About
My name is Kevin Herrera and I am currently employed as a Programmer Analyst. I have been using computers since I was 7, and have been programming them since I was 14. My father is also a developer and currently a systems administrator. My ambition and inspiration was derived from my father’s successes and sheer ingenuity. He taught me that anything I need to know, can either be learned from books or the internet.

I also happen to be a gamer. I love playing first person shooters, RPGs, and casual games. Couple that with the gym, and my electric guitar, and I have plenty of ways to relax after an intense session of critical thinking and development. While I take my job very seriously, I am very lax and playful outside of work.
I, on occassion, work on free lance projects. I usually just help out on a friend’s contract work, or help family. I often like to tinker with things here and there on the web. You can usually find me buried inside of Chrome’s console window.
Another thing I love to enjoy in life is music. Early in my childhood, I learned to like what my parent’s liked, 80’s and 90’s pop music. Eventually that turned into metal, then death metal, and now I’m currently at progressive metal. There’s just something about heavy bass drums, finger bleeding solos, and an assortment of keyboard instruments that gets my blood pumping. I also happen to play along with some of my favorite songs from time to time.
I’m not a great guitarist, but I’m not that bad either.
Finally, there’s food. It used to be just American and Mexican BBQs that just made my mouth water. After having explored a new world of food with my girlfriend, I have also added Vietnemese and Korean food to that list. Banh mi, bulgogi, and stone pot bibimbap are delicious! It’s great to have an open mind about food and an adjustable pallat.
